Reading Verity by Colleen Hoover mimicked riding a compulsive roller coaster through a tunnel of darkness into a chilling abyss. Hoover had me utterly hooked throughout the entirety of this mind-bending experience. A 5-star rating doesn't do this masterpiece justice.
Verity follows Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer, as she navigates the dark twist and turns of an incredible job opportunity. Lowen is asked to take over a prominent author’s well-developed series after such author, Verity Crawford, is in a horrific “accident.” In an attempt to take over Verity’s series, Lowen must immerse herself in Verity’s prior writing, and her villainous mind. To accomplish such, Lowen finds herself spending weeks at Verity’s house with Verity, Verity’s husband, Jeremy, and their son, Crew. Here, Lowen uncovers Verity’s abominable autobiography in which she writes about the tragic, “accidental” deaths of her two daughters. The longer Lowen stays in Verity’s house, the deeper involved she gets and the more she uncovers. The end of this novel will have you questioning your beliefs and your sanity.
